Oh, pen pals (thatโ€™s what we knew them as)

Yes indeed same in dutch, translated it would be 'pen friends'

Posted by: @boo

Yeah, those were the days. Iโ€™m up for it if you are.

I am not sure If I am a good candidate for writing long letters, nor do I know If I really like it or not, but I definitely want to give it a shot.

Cheers @Russ - it really was a quick thing intended to raise a few laughs!ย  I recorded the bass track during a couple of (camera off) Teams calls, and the main video was a one-take rush when I managed to escape work for a lunch break!

Hey Blissers

@rocknroller912

@koendb

@russ

@bpower (guess the times might be difficult for you)

@anyoneleseIcantseerightnow

ย

As Carol is taking a little Bliss-break, SteeveeDee & I just tested out a Jitsi chat room alternative. ย  No songs etc (at first!), just a virtual pub. ย Jitsi is like Zoom (et al) except completely free, no restrictions, no sign-in needed, works on any browser or through its own app on a phone, tablet, laptop, etc. ย You just need a mic. ย Camera optional if you want to share your face.

ย

Thought weโ€™d invite as many of the usual thurs eve Blissers as we can get the message out to, for a session at 8pm next Thursday. ย Starting at 8pm, we can move over to Bliss if that goes ahead.

https://meet.jit.si

Or download the (free) iOS app.

chatroom name TheBlissers

@tv101

My mission in life is to set all the banjos in the world up correctly so that they sound good and play in tune. Maybe people wonโ€™t hate them so much.

@rocknroller912 I wasn't aware that, if they were set up correctly, that would help them sound better. ๐Ÿ™‚

@bpower

Yes the head should be tuned to a note believe it or not, usually a G for 5 string and if the bridge and strings are too high then there is too much pressure and the head wonโ€™t vibrate. All down pressure and no bounce. A higher head tuning can affect the tone making it more treble I think.

@tv101 take notes in case you ever get a banjo repair to do, and by the way there are no Stanley blades involved in the set up.

Setting up a banjo is very similar to setting up a guitar.

But there's one key difference.

With a guitar, you'll often throw the old strings away, and put a new set once you've finished all the tweaking.

With a banjo, once you've thrown the old strings away, you're good to go.

🤣
