I have a garage attached to the house and was thinking that a wood burning stove would be great, but it's where I keep my motorbike with a 4 gallon petrol tank so probably not a good idea. The weather has thawed today thank goodness.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
Hmm, I guess heating the garage isn’t such an easy task...

Our ice and snow thawed last night as well, the only bonus was that my lockup roof didn't leek when it was frozen, I really need to get that properly fixed.
Good solution for roof repairs is epdm rubber sheet. It's available on the Internet and is custom made to any size, you just need to nail down some Sterling Board (OSB) first. Much better than roofing felt and is supplied with bonding agent.

So it’s official: I signed the contract for my new workshop yesterday and will move in March 1st! Possibly a but sooner depending on how fast the current tenant moves out.
It will be a total of 6 months without working (on guitars) and I’m really excited to get back to wrenching the damn things. Hell, at this point I’m even looking forward to cleaning fretboards and re-stringing Concert guitars...
But while I’m setting up shop and waiting for customers to start rolling in I’ll be cranking out my jigs for building and getting started on some necks for a Bandsman and a TinyCaster for my youngest!
Can’t wait!

@mattbeels That’s awesome man! Can’t wait to see some pictures.

Yee-haa, thanks!
I’m really looking forward to posting some photos of my own for a change!
@mattbeels Here is something to keep you going.
My BKP Rebel Yell turned up. 🤘😁🤘

@mattbeels And...... I think the colours strangely go well with the other BKP, but not for this build. The yellow and black one is a VHII. Think I might plan another build around these pickups.

Oooo, that’s hot!
I bet the Rebel Yell sounds great! I really like the Warpig and I want to try the Holy Diver and Painkiller. A VHII would also be cool!
I‘ve only been able to install a few over the years as most people (my customers anyway) have gone for more reasonably priced pickups. But I‘ve installed a Nailbomb, Warpig and a set of Cold Sweat in customer guitars and one of the Boot Camp/Brute Force in my Jem but that one I didn’t like and sent it back. It struck me as a bit generic and after playing a Warpig I couldn’t hang with it so I ended up with my old default pickup in the Jem, a Duncan Tb4.

Bare Knuckle: The Festool of pickups
@mattbeels yeah I’m at the beginning of my BKP journey but I think I’m going to enjoy it. I know I’ll have less money because of it but because I can now make guitars, it works out much cheaper than buying guitars and then fitting BKPs. I can now make the guitars that I always dreamed of owning, which costs less so I can fit more expensive (and better quality) pickups.

Before Tim Mills moved from North Devon to Falmouth Cornwall, I had him Design some 'Electric Lady ' AlNiCo model Pickups for HSH set.
They are based on the Dimarzio Steve Morse Ceramic models , but Tim made them sound way better!
It's the main reason why I defer to BKP on my builds. Never had a bad one yet! Plus great service!
Nice one! Plus you have some great stories, thanks for sharing them!

But now you’ve convinced me, I’m going for more BKP’S! But I’m going to have even less money than you due to higher shipping rates and (most likely) customs fees!
@mattbeels I wonder how it would work out if I (or anyone in the UK) sent them to you in a private parcel (non commercial)?

@eddie6string That is so cool Eddie. I do feel like I’m going the same way now, it’s worth the extra money.

Thanks for the thought, you’re a cool dude...
The package needs a value declaration and you can’t just say 25 bucks and check the gift box, they know about that one 😂
I‘ve been in Germany a long time and I‘ve tried a lot of different ways to get stuff in from the states under the radar but they’re German after all 😂 and they know what‘s up. There are a few tricks but it’s a hassle.
Plus we don’t really know yet how it’s going to work with regards to trade, so maybe it won’t even be a problem 🤞🤞
Cheers!
