Just collected a couple of conkers, from the Horse Chesnut tree in our garden.
We'd lived here a few years before I even realised that we had our own conker tree!
I'm pretty sure, when I was growing up (OK, we're all still growing up, but when I was growing up and still in short trousers), that having my *own* conker tree would have made me pretty popular with all my mates at school ...

I'm guessing the conker fights are banned in schools nowadays.
Apart from the obvious H&S risks of being rapped on the knuckles by an errant swing, you've also got to consider the implied encouragement of aggression suggested by "fight", the fact that I only ever saw boys having conker fights, so it's clearly sexist, and then the cruelty to conkers aspect.
Oh, and you probably can't do it on a phone or tablet, so kids won't be interested anyways ...
