Nice one @boo! The guitar came out great and that pickup sounds good, you can hear a bit of that VH sound in there even though he was playing more like AC/DC. How did the strap balance work out and what was the wiring trick that you learned for the killswitch?

@mattbeels Cheers Matt, that pickup really does sound great.
The strap trick did work out well, I really does help balance the guitar when stood up playing it.Β
With the killswitch wiring, Iβve discovered that you can use the very common momentary switches/buttons instead of the more rare and expensive ones.Β
This video explains it all better than I can.Β

Check out this build TV. There will be things you like and things you donβt like about it.Β Β
Errrr - I'm looking hard, but struggling a bit to find things that I don't like about it!
OK, so the bright yellow covers probably wouldn't have been my first thought or choice, but they work well on the guitar with the pickup colour (and strings too) and all-black might have been a bit too black?
Exquisite finishing once again - of course - and I do remember the effort you put in to hiding the neck tenon join.Β That dedication and determination paid off.
How do you find those coloured strings?Β I presume that they're standard strings, but the coated?Β Do they sound noticeably different?Β Do they feel or wear differently?Β What about where you hit them with the pick - does the colour chip off?Β I've absolutely no experience with them at all.

@tv101 Yep, the plastic covers is what I thought you wouldnβt like but they do work with the overall design. 👍

@tv101 Errmβ¦. I canβt answer most of that as I didnβt really play it that much once I had put these strings on. The coating stays on when playing with a pick and the tone sounds no different than a normal set, not to my ear anyway. Iβll ask my mate about all of this as he uses them more. I bought a set for myself as well but Iβm not really getting nearer to using them yet.Β
You will find them in most guitar stores now. I think I found these on Amazon.Β

@tv101 Thank you. It just goes to show that if you are patient enough to get the prep work right, the top coat finish should just be the easy bit. Anyone can do it, it just takes time. 👍
