@mattbeels Just edited out my finger prints. I’m so paranoid these days, identity theft. Someone with some fancy software could digitally lift fingerprints and potentially use them for something dodgy. I might be going over the top but I don’t trust many people in this world, this is an open, public forum after all.

@mattbeels The third photo doesn’t show that level of detail that fingerprints can be picked up. 🤘😁🤘

I did think it was strange that the bandsaw was so clean when I dusted for prints. 🙂

Identity theft;

Ian Gillan's improvised lyrics on the live version if Highway Star

"Nobody gonna steal my head, I'm gonna nail it to my bra-ain"

Faultless logic!

Maybe a useful tip: Use your Dremel with the plunge base to drill a straight 2 mm pilot hole and gradually widen it with 4, 6, 8 etc drill bits until you've got the right diameter. You will notice that every next drill bit will almost effortlessly follow the hole made by the previous one. Works a treat with me.....

Measure once, cut straight away and maybe you're lucky......

That sounds like a good plan.

That’s a good tip but I wouldn’t recommend making big jumps in the diameter of the drills especially since there isn’t much meat around the tuner holes. Go up 1 mm at a time max and practice it first 😉

Increasing hole diameters.

Preferred options due to gentle nature of cutting angles coupled with centralised orientation

That looks like the set of step drills that I've got, plus one that snapped leaving just the 10 and 12 section that might be good for the bridge post holes. I've also got a set of reamers on order for my dremel.

Success with redrilling the tuner holes today. Glued the plugs in yesterday and sanded flat today. Plunged a 3mm hole with my dremel the drilled with a 4mm to 12mm step drill. I drilled each step from both side, the 10mm step just meet in the middle and the 12mm leaves a nice wee countersink. My mrs says that if I don't stop making mistakes then she'll get someone in that can make guitars.

Another little bit done. I made a guide fence for my bandsaw and got a 3/8" blade to help cut in a straight line, the 1/4" blade wandered a bit. My control cavity cover was just a wee bit too big at its widest point to fit the bandsaw, so I could only cut part way and the finish the cut by handsaw. The bandsaw made a great straight cut, the handsaw not so great and the cover ended up a bit thinner than I wanted. By the time I got it flat it was only about 3mm thick. I've got plenty depth in the cavity, so I'll glue a piece across the grain on the inside of the cover to stiffen it.

@robin

Good fix on the thin cover, it sounds like you are really getting the hang of guitar making and learning how to fix problems as you go along.

Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
