@brie no shame in that, I’m sure it still rocks!

@brie thank you. Nice Bo Diddley vibes on your build, looks great!
I’ve got some of crimson’s stains, but not their oils. I used liberon finishing oil on my last build, is crimson’s much different to that?
Cheers

@brie thanks dude. And yeah, I’m still trying to walk upright. Took me a few days to pick myself up off the floor too. And I’ve ended up with someone ordering a finished Tele body, Don Rich style. Told them… Read more»

@brie Well done Robin, really didn’t think you’d get it done last weekend, we had horrible weather on the Sunday, though I know it was much better in Edinburgh. Thanks Brian, the weather was good to us, it stopped raining… Read more»

@brie good work!

swepri replied to the topic "Then a BAD thing happened👎🤨" – 1 year, 7 months ago
@brie You can also do a “climb cut” (going backwards) on certain sections to minimize the risk of tearout, but I think that is a scary thing to do with a router. I think Mark showed and explained it in… Read more»

@brie Its happened to us all, and it’ll probably happen again. Thats good advice from @swepri not to be too greedy with the cuts. Your first reaction to stop and have a beer was the right thing to do. Gluing… Read more»

@brie Not answering your question, but I try to nibble away in smaller passes with the router (maybe 4-5mm added depth per pass). It takes more time, but I think it reduces the risk for tearout.

Dan Hawkes replied to the topic "Then a BAD thing happened👎🤨" – 1 year, 7 months ago
@brie that sounds like a plan! When I did my bad thing, I didn’t want to change the shape of the body, but reshaping is always an option. @nsj is correct and has much more experience than me, I just… Read more»

@brie, I feel you you, man! I had a router booboo at a similar point. Although your area is larger, I’m not certain if the tear out is any deeper than mine?
I filled the hole with mahogany wood… Read more»

@brie thanks Brian. I’ve found the whole process so much fun albeit with a step learning curve!
It’s not perfect, but what I learnt from making the mistakes and how to rectify them is invaluable.
Do it, man, it will be great! -

I was expecting a bang, or at the very least a FIZZZZZZ-POP @brie. This is the first time I’ve attempted anything like this. But, it was a painless and bangless experience! Have a look at ampmaker.com and particularly the build… Read more»

@brie are the links you are referring to on this site? I’ll have to go back and see if I can find them in udemy. I wasn’t successful in my first try.
Thanks so much for those specs

@brie Yes, you are correct. Geometrically, you only need to measure the scale of the two E strings for the calculation, since the fret wire connects in a straight line between these two scales. The scales for the other strings… Read more»

@brie I’ve often pondered the question of sinking a bridge into the body as an alternative to achieving an accurate neck back angle to give a nice low string action. Seems viable to me but , as I’m just starting… Read more»

@brie I accidently missed the neck angle on my first guitar and the solution was making a 2mm deep recess under the wraparound bridge. I made the recess larger, with rounded corners and it turned out well. It looks like… Read more»
