This isn't guitar related, but as a few of you are living in remote areas of Scotland, you might be interested. I'm going to be abseiling from the Forth Rail Bridge on Sunday to raise some funds for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA). The reason I'm doing this is that I made a 999 call back in June when a good friend collapsed here on the caravan site. I was told that an ambulance had been dispatched, twenty minutes later a helicopter landed beside us and the paramedics got to work. Fifteen minutes later, the road ambulance arrived. Sadly John didn't survive, but that 15 minutes might have made a difference in different circumstances. The opportunity to do the abseil came up shortly afterwards and I thought that although I couldn't help John, here was a chance to maybe help someone else. So if anyone would like to make a donation, please visit my Just Giving page through the link below.
I completed the abseil yesterday, the most difficult part was the getting up there with my dodgy lungs, luckily it was busy and we had to stop a couple of time, so got a chance to get my breath back. Then having climbed over the barrier, my strumming hand really didn't want to let go the handrail, but once I got the tension on the rope it was a gentle glide 165 ft down to the beach. It was a good day. Thank you for your donations, the SCAA team were very appreciative.
@robin Well done! I’m glad you landed on the ground at a safe pace that you could walk away from it. 😆
You got more than your target. The air ambulance is such an important service here in Scotland and they need all the help they can get.
Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
Well done Robin, really didn’t think you’d get it done last weekend, we had horrible weather on the Sunday, though I know it was much better in Edinburgh.
Thanks Brian, the weather was good to us, it stopped raining when I got to Queensferry and a very light wind. Luckily I had came over from Argyll on Friday and missed all the landslides and floods.
