@darrenking Fair point it’s whatever people are comfortable with. My polisher is used for honing gouges mostly so it has to run away from the cutting edge and gives a mirror finish. Just starting my third Guinness by the way,… Read more»

@boo @darrenking Having another look at the video and maybe I’m missing something but I’ve always done polishing with the wheel running away from me as when it running towards you it tends to pull the work piece into the… Read more»

What could possibly go wrong!
@darrenking, well we’d probably find out who’s still using Nitro-Cellulose for their finishing.

It looks to me that @darrenking had way too much fun designing and making the housing for the motor.
I love the precision of the box.
The fact that it’s going to do something highly functional and useful is a bonus! -

, in my experience, small, stupid bugs are deeply attracted to the final, ‘most perfectly sprayed top coat ever’
Maybe a spray booth made of mosquito net material would let the UV in and keep the bugs out.

I’ve just noticed you stay up nearly as late as me. Been fitting an ebony fingerboard on a violin until an hour ago. Lockdown has been strange with no pubs, I keep working till I’ve finished the job. -

I think you’re correct about organising forum headings, it usually needs an administrator to create meta data headings which are like sub headings on a main topic. It’s a bit like a family tree or pyramid flow chart. -

Incidentally, I just found that Northwest guitars do a water based top coat in gloss or satin, but it’s hidden in their “Water based stains” section.@darrenking, for what it’s worth they even have a gloss one specifically targeted at acoustics.https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/northwest-guitars-water-based-glossy-top-coat-for-acoustic-guitars-2/

@darrenking I don’t know, I’ll try and find out though.
