RE: Robin's build #004

@markbailey Maybe this link to my video will work, and I'll repeat, I'm not a player, I just play enough amuse myself. You did meet me in person briefly a few years ago, I came down to collect an el...

RE: Robin's build #004

Thanks @boo , my mrs wasn't at all surprised when when I started talking about the next one. However, we're going to move house this year so I've promised no more guitars until we've moved.

@robin That looks marvellous. Great effort Robin, you must be proud of yourself, well done. I love an acoustic with a cutaway. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, that's what it's all about.

@russ Thanks Russ, it was certainly a challenge and won't claim to have mastered it, but I have learned a lot.

RE: Well, that’s that then!!

@nsj That’s pretty much what I was thinking, that insulation would be the key. We’ll stick with our oil fired CH for the present but would seriously think about making the change rather than getting a...

RE: Well, that’s that then!!

@brie ours is an ancient old stone cottage too, the biggest thing to cost is insulation. An air source pump can heat any building but the better the insulation the more efficient it is.

RE: Well, that’s that then!!

@nsj Interesting to hear how the heat pump/solar panels have reduced your heating costs. A friend of ours is going to have the survey done to see if he qualifies to have the work done and we were thin...

RE: Well, that’s that then!!

I actually tried that the first month. I can reach maybe 40% of the panels with a 4m pole and it works with dry powdery snow. But now we have a centimeter of ice on the panels, and snow on top of that...

RE: Robin's build #004

Thanks @swepri , its not perfect but with what I've learned during this build and the documentation to remind me where it went wrong, my next one will be closer to perfect.

@robin All of a sudden - a guitar! Well done, and thank you for the documentation of the whole build. I hope I can gain the courage to build an acoustic some day.

Frets levelled and crowned and strings on. Spent some time adjusting the saddle height, but still need to bring the nut down a bit now, and maybe slacken the truss rod, there's a bit of buzz playing u...

That's 4 coats of top coat on it now, I think that's enough, I putt a bit of beeswax on my test piece and its polished up nicely. Anyway, thats the bridge glued now, it was really tight getting these ...

@nsj Got solar panels installed last summer. In my area we have the first really snowy winter in years, so virtually no production at the moment. No fun! But it sure is nice when the white stuff is go...

@boo first time in my life I've lived in a warm house, it's very weird. A lot cheaper though, was about £6 on leccy and £12 a day on coal and wood! Now I can have toasty house for anything from £4 to ...
