RE: Hi from Edinburgh

@chrishamilton Welcome! The book Russ recommends is very good, covering most of the stuff needed to wire a guitar or troubleshoot it.

RE: 🎶🎸 Your Favourite Song In This Moment 🎸🎶

@tv101 Why do they only use four strings on their guitars? Are they confused bass players in diguise? Are they on a low budget? So many questions... 😀

Answer to: Making patterns

I prefer to drill out the bulk of material with a forstner bit before routing the cavities. With a decent drill press (with good clearance) and a depth stop it saves me from a lot of routing.

RE: Modified guitar_New Resonator

@poco7 Congrats on getting a workshop. Certainly makes things more easy and fun. If your fretting hand is the problematic one, you can always play a little slide. 🙂

RE: At it again #3

@nsj It will be my first carve, so I hope it will be fairly easy. I'm going to do the neck first, while the walnut is acclimating in the garage. Working on the ebony fretboard at the moment.

RE: Next project - a rebuild

@tv101 An absolute improvement over the old finish! I agree that the cavity cover should look better with same grain direction as the body. But is it possible to throw away the old one? It's shaped li...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@brie I accidently missed the neck angle on my first guitar and the solution was making a 2mm deep recess under the wraparound bridge. I made the recess larger, with rounded corners and it turned out ...

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2)

@robin Just another thought... It could be worth checking the A string nut slot to make sure the string leaves crisp right at the end of the slot.
