RE: Robin's build #004

If you are going to 'tune' any of the braces, plates, chambers make sure to offset your tuner by 1/4 note (A=431) The last thing you want is parts tuned to concert pitch. Until you have a few builds u...

RE: Well, that’s that then!!

@brie if you're on a low enough income you can even get most of it done for free. Think it's somewhere about £19500 per year or that. Ours was all free, insulation, vaillant pump and solar. New modern...

RE: first scratch build : a neck through 12 string semi hollow telecaster style guitar

@tyreman Thats all looking good. If you're not happy with the string height, why not recess the bridge by the thickness of the plate to make it flush with the body, that would give you bit of room fo...

Thankfully, gluing the neck went well and I now have a new guitar if sorts. I practiced staining on an offcut off the top and really enjoyed the process on the actual guitar. It's not 100% what I was ...

Though that failure might have been due to the extra clamping pressure, rather than the normal stresses that a finished body would have to withstand?

@tyreman Congrats! Turned out very well. 👍 Did you get the balance right with both weight relief and 12 tuners?

If you've got the time, money and wood @tyreman then go for it. It's all about learning and trying things out. For the proportions, you could be right in trying it with the longer strat style body. &...

@tyreman I like the idea of a straight string pull, thats what I try to do with the six string headstock design that I use. But, I do agree with the other guys that it looks out of proportion.

@tyreman That is wild and cool. My only issue with it is a practical one, I think it will be top (head) heavy when playing. Unless you have some counter weight at the back of the body, I feel the head...

RE: first scratch build : a neck through 12 string semi hollow telecaster style guitar

The camera angle probably exaggerates it further, but the headstock now looks very big (long) compared to the size of the body. I realise that it's always difficult to get 12 strings on to a headstoc...
