I know a lot of American guitar builders use this as a top coat and finish for their instruments, and for a long time we haven't been able to get it in the UK, well thats all changed.

For any of you that aren't aware its a High Solid, Super Hard, Scratch resistant, Clear Finish with exceptional Clarity. It is by far CrystaLacs hardest and clearest top coat. Brite Tone will build to a high depth very quickly due to its high solids content and will not leave a blue cast on dark exotic wood. Adheres to wood, metal and glass.

you don't need Ventialtion, PPE etc when using it and it can be used indoors.

You can grab your stock now at www.wilsonbrownsupplies.com

check out this video to show you how its done.

@cliveo Yes, I’ve been waiting for this product to become available in the UK, I will definitely be trying it soon. Thanks for the link, much appreciated. 👍

Nice! I’m also super interested in this product, hopefully Europe will be next! I guess I’ll start looking again or maybe contact the manufacturer and bug them about it.

Practice on scrap...

It seems to be priced at $=£, which considering that's an inc VAT price makes it about 16% more expensive than the US.

Not unreasonable if they're shipping it here rather than making it under license.

I guess that's another product for my tests.

@boo, they're also selling Crystalac's liquid mica metallics and colour shift liquid mica for mixing into the topcoat.

I noticed it was more than the US, but taking into account me shipping it and customs etc it works out a lot cheaper so I'm happy haha.

Yes, its being shipped here, i think thats why they don't have as much stock yet.

Also i've asked about sanding sealer, gel stain and wood grain filler. they advised me thats on there next order, along with pigments. So hopefully we will have the full range here soon... fingers crossed 🙂

I'm guessing that this *only* works in a spray gun?

@tv101

Why guess? They tell you

  • Easy to Use – Can be Brushed or Sprayed. Self leveling.

@cliveo

They're also only stocking the gloss at the moment. Brite Tone is also available in satin and matt

@jonhodgson You can always make a shiny surface satin or matt by sanding it back with some very fine wet and dry or a Scotch pad.

True, i noticed that. They are really friendly though and told me if I needed anything they would add it onto the next order. As they are building stock they are just trying to get the main stuff in first. So i guess if you need anything, give them a shout haha

@tv101 Yeah that's what attracted me to the idea too. I don't really want to spray every guitar that i make or oil them, this product bridges that gap and gives great results from what I have seen online.

@boo - yup - I'm just looking for some suitable air-powered brushes now ...

@tv101

Ask Darren to design one, it'll be CNCd out of 18mm plywood, but really ingenious.

@boo

The problem with doing that on a guitar is the player basically polishes it every time he picks it up, so that lovely even flat matt finish soon won't be.

That's why if you want a matt or satin finish that's going to stay that way, you need something with a flattening agent in it.
