Hi All,
I’ve been binge watching Marks videos on YouTube and think that they’re great.
I’m hoping to start a project later in the year and I’m slowly accumulating tools and knowledge.
The register link said there was a free eBook and Mark said in some of his videos that there were some plan available to members. Are these things only available to paid members?
Im hoping to become a premium member and go through the courses once I’ve got a bit further along collecting tools and making a suitable work space.
Thanks in advance, I look forward to picking your collective brains.
Nick
Welcome Nick. Enjoy the ride. It does say that you can get the free ebook when you sign in but it's been so long since I signed up I can't remember how you access it.
I'm sure you'll have some delightful fun here.

@dirtbike Welcome to the group, you'll find a lot of like minded helpful people here. Try this link for Mark's ebook plans. https://guitarmaking.co.uk/guitar-plans-ebook/
I’m building a Telecaster at the moment for someone else so I might be able to help you out with plans and stuff like templates. Until you get all the tools I would suggest getting Mark to do the fretboard for you, unless you are desperate to do it yourself. If you want a fret slotting jig the one on the website is good, made by @darrenking who posts on here.
I think there is a 335 course planned and several people have shown interest.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
Thanks again for the welcoming messages, I agree the 335 is probably a bit too ambitious to start with.
I'm in a quandary, I'm looking to buy some second hand tools and think it would be a good idea to get a couple of second hand routers.
I like the idea of a small less cumbersome palm router for fine detailed stuff like pickup pockets, neck pocket, binding etc... something like the Bosch GKS600 and maybe a larger 1/2" router for more heavy duty stuff, I like the idea of making a Table Saw/Router Table combo as I have a limited space to work in.
Any suggestions on this?
a good idea to get a couple of second hand routers
I have bought several ‘pre-loved’ routers recently. Elu, and then DeWalt did an awesome little router with the dust extraction though one of the side tubes (OF97 & DW622 I think)
If you can’t find one of these then the MOF96 or MOF96E (variable speed) or any other Elu router were incredibly well engineered (Swiss built and designed prior to buy out by Black & Decker) and if you can find one that has been in lightly used DIY ownership then, in the long term, they are a much better buy than than a budget model from Screwfix.
One of my favourite routers is the little Makita cordless (DRT50ZJX3). Great tool and can easily clamped to bench inverted to create a tiny router table.
I hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your advice... I ended up going for a 2nd hand Bosch POF1400ACE much the same as the one you suggested @Boo but with a micro adjust and a slightly higher powered motor.
I'm still yet to collect the bandsaw, I suspect a 160 mile round trip will cost more in fuel than the thing owes me with current fuel prices...
I've recently fixed the garage door so that it can actually be opened from the front and not have to rely on the side door so organising the workshop is also starting to happen.
Will update with a pics once the knackered bandsaw arrives so you can give me some feedback.
Cheers
Nick
