Hello everyone I'm new here and just signed up for the lessons.
Looking forward to my first design and build.
Plus you all seem to be a good supportive group.
Cheers!
Hey @igeorgebot welcome to the forum and to the full, all out courses for building guitars. Where are you going to start? Are you going down the electric or acoustic route?

Welcome @igeorgebot
You're going to have a LOT of fun!

Hi George, welcome to the forum of dreams, you’ll have a hoot. Let us know a little about yourself and keep the pictures coming once you start your build. There is a special prize for anyone who comes up with a new mistake but it is highly unlikely anybody ever wins it! 🤣
Cheers
Darren

It's called the Jameses...... like the Oscars or the Darwin awards ..... but more tragic 🤣

I can't believe that anyone else has drilled the bottom horn for the strap button. I was too embarrassed to document that one on my build post. I must have had a serious lack of oxygen to my brain that day.

@robin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That really has made me chuckle Robin! I’m sorry to laugh but that has tickled me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m sure I will do many things equally as daft in the coming days, weeks, months, years, decades (if I live that long).

I laughed myself, eventually. If anybody spots that little repair, I'll be be claiming that it's just a knot. The next guitar that I've been drawing has a double cutaway, I was thinking that maybe the horn was too sharp for a strap button. That must have been in my mind when I drilled this single cutaway horn.
@robin That is nothing, minor. I spaced out and inlayed wrong fret spots of fret markers after the 12th fret. I didnt even catch til days after I finished the build. Wondering why when I play up the fretboard I was going flat all the time. Bummer.
Hi, welcome. I'm sure you'll get a lot from the site....best wishes!
I’m sorry but momentarily forgetting the you’re not ambidextrous automatically disqualifies you!
Ambidextrous, I'm not even dextrous. I should have known there would be a get out clause.

Thanks Clinton that makes me feel better, and lets me see what I can look forward to. How do I fix that one when it happens. 🤔

@robin I think the best thing for anyone to do when a mistake is made is laugh and walk away. We have to laugh and learn. Like @markbailey has said, walk away and come back the day after, things are never as bad as they first appeared to be.

@robin Walked away. My brain got tired and should have not pushed through accomplishing too much. Tomorrow is another day. What is in Blackpool? Gotta go now and see for myself. Maybe I will do a side trip when I visit Scotland someday for the workshop.
