That's why it's my favourite today.

Three songs today. These songs were instrumental in helping me broaden my musical pallet from my earlier roots in the Hard Rock scene. There have been many other songs that have taken me in other directions since but these three bands were the drivers for me.

My favourite song today: Ben van den Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Quinter - Trouble ahead

This video is from the 1993 North Sea Jazz Festival and it was broadcasted on dutch tv when my wife and I were expecting our second baby. We were still of a name for the new baby. We had a name in mind for it it if is was a girl, but not sure for a name for a boy. Then we saw this on tv. My wife didn't like the music so much (I love it) but she did like the name Jarmo. And that's how our second son is called Jarmo.

The sad side of the story is that Jamo Hoogendijk had to retire as a player in 2004. A surgical procedure with poor aftercare, causing all kinds of facial muscles to stop functioning, is the cause of an irreparable damage to his embouchure. I've met and spoken with Jarmo several times many years ago when he was still playing. Nice guy. The name Jarmo by the way is a Finnish name, it's the Finnish version of Jeremy. Jarmo Hoogendijk's mother is from Finland, which explains his Finnish name.

When we went into first lockdown, and everyone was out stripping the supermarket shelves of loo roll, dried pasta and tins of baked beans ...

@tv101 Yeah me too. There is another threat to the world I am very worried about though, the situation in America. They really do need to to get themselves together before there is a major disaster. They need a new leader in my opinion. Sorry for talking politics but that is what I was referring to, it’s a much bigger threat than Covid.

When lockdown started I bought loads of instrument spare parts in bulk just in case the world suddenly wanted to start making stuff and I was worried there would be no supplies left.

My favourite song today is from my absolute musical heroe Brian Wilson. The man is a musical genius and I would've been at his concert in Amsterdam in June, but some virus got in the way. The concert is now scheduled for June 2021, and I surely hope the man will be still alive then.This is the song with the original lyrics.
