Have you any idea what you started????

A band?

After our first lead singer and guitarist left the band they asked me to join them to form a trio.

We recorded an EP and this clip is one of the songs on it. You see me play my fretless bass (number 3 from the Bailey workshop) but you hear bass number 2 from the Bailey workshop.

And of course I wear the right t-shirt. ? 

We folded the trio up about 5 years ago.

At the end of december 2018 I formed another trio with two guitarists, one of them my friend Stijn, who is now the happy owner of the 12 string guitar I made. The trio is named "Akoestische Heeren", in english "Acoustic Gentlemen", but spelled in "old" dutch. From 1934 "Heeren" is spelled "Heren".

This video is of our first gig, which was a new year party for local musicians.

Very nice too, very different from your recent work though.

I wrote a couple of songs many years ago. I'm not a very good singer nor guitar player but I enjoy it.

I recorded it at home, playing guitars, bass and drums (not simultaneously ?). The mandolin you hear is actually a doubled guitar with capo on the 12th fret.

I wrote the song during our summer holiday we spent in Scotland in 2010. Of course we visited Mark and Carol and as we were having a nice afternoon drink in the garden it started to rain a little. Carol told us it wasn't raining. Ten minutes later is was pouring but Carol kept saying it wasn't raining. Carol and Fiona feature in the video, as does my youngest son Jarmo, who was 16 then.

By the way, it didn't rain all of our holiday but Scotland does have a slightly moist climate.

Thank you, binary tv.We always enjoy playing together. We rehearse at Stijn's attic and usually after a couple of songs he asks "want to have a vitamin b?", goes downstairs to his refrigerator and comes back with three cans of beer.

Yes, to Newcastle for the ferry back to Holland. But we also had some sunshine in Scotland. The sunny end of the video was filmed in Ullappool where we took the ferry to Lewis and Harris.
