The best jig ever for any guitar maker. Ingenious concept
@darrenking for years I have struggled making my own jigs and templates per scale length. Not to say they were bad, but quite good and effective actually. Your jig however, by far is the most brilliant universal revolutionary invention in the planet. It is a hidden gem. It relieves the heartache and the burden. I am so proud to say, I own a bagpress fret slotting jig. Thank you so so much!!!!
@clinton Yeah definitely. It’s one of those essential jobs that must be right for a guitar to work and play properly. Owning one of these jigs and the various scale length inserts is definitely a must for anyone serious about making guitars professionally and/or for hobby/pastime. It’s such a simple format as well as being precise and accurate every time.
I still have the Bagpress buffing machine too, it marvellous. I will be passing it on for someone else to try out soon, this is also recommended for anyone wanting highly polished finishes.
Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
I Still need to order one of those neck pocket routing jigs of yours.
Hi @koendb I have them in stock and they are listed on eBay. Mark and Carol don’t currently have them in their shop but I will pass on a commission to them if you order direct.
Cheers
Darren
It has arrived @darrenking. Price almost doubled thanks to freakin VAT and greedy parcel services ( UPS charge another whopping 15 Euros to 'handle and fullfill customs payments on my behalf' ) But I am happy and I am going to try it out on my next project 👍
Hi @koendb,
I am sorry that you’ve had to pay so much extra but these additional charges are actually illegal under the terms of the Brexit agreement with the EU. I think it is just a way of punishing the UK for leaving so I have little hope that it will ever change. I would like to point out that I DIDN’T vote for it and Brexit has been a complete catastrophe for export business so far as I am concerned. And then Covid and now Putin!! What is happening to the world I hoped my children would grow up in?!
I look forward to seeing photos of the first neck joint made with your Bagpress jig.
Regards
Darren

@darrenking you don't have to be apologetic for the crimes of others.
It is the parcel service charging this, but is the corruption that is allowing it. I explicitly do not use the word politician. I don't want to have a political debat, as it has nothing to do with politics, only with crime and corruption. It does not matter on which part of the political spectrum they claim to be, they are all equally vile and corrupt.
Anyway , I want to discuss guitar making here 🙂 I am looking forward to use the bagpress neck routing template 🙂
Wow, this will be my 20th guitar build. Wish I had the bagpress fret slot jig all that time but cannot dwell in the past. So stoked that I have it now.
Aww schucks guys, you're making me 😊 😊 😊
Funnily enough, I have just been running a new batch of slotting jigs and templates and have now expanded the range of templates to include ones for mixed guitar types, ukulele, 3/4 sized guitars, 7/8 sized guitars and (a special request by @tv101!) banjo & bouzouki. Four 8' x 4' sheets of high grade 6mm birch ply and 21600 holes later (almost five and a half Blackburn, Lancashires!), all ten templates are in stock and ready for Christmas! You can now choose from 45 different scale lengths and there's a tenner for the first person to make one instrument using each!
I know I'm unlikely to sell many of the small guitar templates but there will be someone out there obsessively trying to make the most accurate junior guitars in the world, and now they can!!
Keep having fun in your dust factories!
Darren
My technical design eye loves the neatness and precision of it all!
I'll pass on the banjo/bouzouki option for now though @darrenking - I've got a few other builds ahead of that on the priority queue.
