I had a rummage through one of my four tea chests full of Rio rosewood parquet floor tiles (why oh why oh why?!!!!) and pulled out some interesting pieces to be converted into bridges. I modified the file slightly from the test version, making the E and A string grooves a little wider and changing the profile of the curve behind the strings. I have also added drilling for an under saddle pick up. Here’s a question. The fitting instructions say to drill a hole at both ends of the saddle even though there is only one wire. I can’t believe that a 2.5mm hole will make much difference but I’ve done it anyway. Any ideas? Back to the Rio rosewood. Some of the grain is just so amazing beautiful its difficult to believe it’s real. The bridge with the orange stripey section is something else! I can wait to see them stuck on to a soundboard and lacquered. I’ve got a positioning jig to make first but hopefully the coming weekend will see this step completed.

Oh, I know there’s a bubinga bridge in there (third pic) but all of the others, even the almost black ones, are Rio.

You can tuck excess pickup down the other hole (depends on stye of pickup)...you are ony really marking the positions anyway as you will need to drill through proper when the bridge is glued on to the body...

Nice work!

You could make matching bookmatched headstock veneers?

Measure twice, cut once...
