@koendb

I don’t see any need to fill the gap in purfling. I’ve never seen anyone else do it.

Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.

Flat braces done!

For some reason, my bracings are thinner then in the Acoustic building videos.
Hopefully that won't be a big issue, construction wise.

Man I definitely need to work on my chiseling skills, My pyramid shapes looks more like an abandoned medieval farmhouse with a collapsing roof 🙂

I also noticed a typo  in the PDF with the bracing dimensions ( @markbailey ) :
The upper transverse Graft states  43mm X 3.2mm x 300mm, While , If I look at the guitar plan, the UTGFT seems to be 34mm instead of 43mm.
That also seems to work out better with the tiny gaps between the heel block, UTGFT and UFB, UTGFT.

I think I deserve a beer now...

Looks good, you will be closing the sound box in no time.

Hi @koendb,

You definitely don't need to fill these gaps.

Great looking guitar, you're doing a fantastic job!

Cheers

Darren

@petervirdee I am following Marks bootlegger design so I cannot take any credit for it unfortunately 😉

@koendb sweet man. That looks great. I think I'm going to start my next build tonight. I just got the wood out for the top. 🙂

Cleaned the X-brace glue..
Everything seems to fit snuggly, especially the bridge plate and soundhole braces.

Early this morning, before starting my workday, I started curving the back braces. During lunchbreak ( and some extra time ) I glued the braces in and tonight, I carved the braces and sanded them.

Yesterday I took the sides of my guitar to a friend to thin them down on his thicknessing planer to as close to 2.2mm as we could. While we where at it, we also reduced the thickness of the fingerboard to about 6.5mm

Today I flattened my rough cut neck, cut the heel, back of the headstock and routed the trussrod channel + fillet

It's such a satisfying feeling when everything fits perfectly.. I hope the rest of my build will be on the same level 🙂

@koendb  You're doing well, is it side bending next.

I dont know yet.
I am trying to figure out whether I need to plane down the sides a little more ( I am now at 2.4mm~ 2.6mm)

Since I have some leftovers from the sides, I suppose I could try to bend these. Or be patient and sand some more 🙂
