Time for some fun. 

Special masking tape to help contain the epoxy resin.

A bit of belt sanding to remove the excess epoxy. 

I forgot to take pictures of applying templates and routing cavities etc but that is all done as normal. This guitar is having a P90 pickup in the bridge and a humbucker in the neck, oh and a short Wilkinson Tele bridge with compensated saddles. 

I cleaned it all off with some spirit wipe, it looks pretty nice. Next I’ll add a little dye and sand it back.

Drilling day. Jack input socket and pickup wiring holes. Carving day tomorrow.

Belly carve. 

Time for some decorative screws, stainless steel. I used pan head on the top and countersink on the edges. I’ve now removed them all whilst I stain the body. 

Here are the countersinks in the edges.

@russ Thanks, I love doing these Barncasters, I add something new every time, they evolve. I’ve stained it now and I can’t wait to sand it back tomorrow. 

I’ve been playing around with dyes and sanded back in between coats. I’ve blended the colours, black, orange and yellow and I’m now happy with it. The first coat of dye always looks really bad to me, quite tacky looking. After a bit of work, it always comes good and starts to look a little more classy. 

It gets better, I promise. More sanding and dying before oil. Pre oil. 

Now for the first coat of Tru Oil. It’s starting to come alive.
