Make sure to think about things thoroughly with a neck through, cause it aint easy to use a bandsaw , for instance, once the sides are glued in place.

they're not glued on yet, just testing it out, on the real one I'll probably cut the neck less agressively, but that's exactly why I'm making this first, other than that really like the shape.

thanks, wait til you see the real one! this one's just the prototype, because I'm crazy I'll have to do it all again.

I did quite a bit today, including planing in a break angle into the body otherwise the action would have never been right, I glued the sawn off neck piece back on because I need to carve where the neck meets the body again in the right place, there will be about 8mm removed as well for the capped top which will also be scraps of pine in this case, it's getting quite complex and I need a break, here are a few photos.

I patched in some wood to repair a bad rout on the other side of the neck, this should make more sense when I start shaping it later.

made a template then routed out the jack socket, I've got the control cavitiy to rout out next, just trying to concentrate on one thing at a time.

bookmatched pine top, just need to hand plane it to thickness.

the top is almost done, I used some hot hide glue to glue on a couple of extra pieces to extend the width, using a rub joint technique, I think carving the neck is going to be next, looking forward to that part the most!

I finally carved the neck, it was very enjoyable, so theraputic!

I mostly used a spokeshave and carving knife for the transitions volute and the heel, I'll do a bit more carving once it's glued together, for a first neck I'm quite happy with it, it's subtle but there's a C profile near the 1st fret and towards the high frets it's closer to a V shape, I did it all just with feeling and taking off a bit at a time until I was happy with it.

the wings are glued on now, in the meantime I'm going to make some routing templates out of MDF whilst this is curing whilst listening to winger and drinking red bull.

perhaps you can help me decide? should I make a normal control cavity then rout out the top half of the left body wing, or should I hollow out the entire thing? I still want an access plate on the back.

I made some templates/patterns today, for hollowing out the wings.

hollowed it out, on the real one I'll do this first before gluing on the wings, it'd be much easier, it's now a lot lighter weight and sounds pretty good when you tap it.

I've been busy! carved the f-hole and the shape on the top, drilled all the holes needed, including the ones inside, still a few jobs to do but it's getting close.

Coming along very nicely @tyreman. It'll be very interesting to see how this prototype stands the test of time.
