Pinecasters
Douglas Fir Pine Body, Poplar neck, Walnut Fretboard.
@clinton You’ve done it again Clinton, these are beautiful. Wow! I love the different spec, especially the Wilkinson P90s in the Strat, that’s very unusual but looks so good. I love your choice of colour and the finish looks absolutely spot on, I’m proud of you. What paints/lacquer did you use?
Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸
@Boo I used keda dye, denatured alcohol, danish oil, walnut and natural stain. Hand rubbed the way Big D guitars does his dye bursting. Rattlecan Rustileum lacquer, 5 coats and only wet sanded twice. Buffed it with varathane polishing wax. I am pleased with the results of this method. Gives a nice satin gloss. Super easy and inexpensive. Takes a bit of time and patience between coats however.
@mattbeels At 5 or more coats, pretty solid. One thing however, this will probably be the last time I work with pine. Too soft that I actually had to make a walnut block to accept the the string ferrules on the strat. Pine dents easily. Its too wet, too knotty and actually had to dry it out in a slow oven and got it down to 12%. Always wanted to do a sunburst and to practice it on pine. Practiced on my bolt ons as well in case I swap it out to another body and Just to have it under my belt. Very pleased with the feel, tone and look it turned out. Surprised it came out so good considering it is cheap lumber. Notice no knots on this one and purposely choose to cut off every knot. Pine does not sand well as well. It does not accept stains well. I pre conditioned it prior and helped the dye and oil to pop out more. Over all after my 11th build it gets better with valuable lessons learned. Just started on my 12th build. I can finally honestly say now I am a guitar maker. Much thanks Mark and everyone for all the inspirations.
Love them. Are they an addition to an already sizeable herd of guitars or do you do a cull from time to time?
Ive started giving my experiments away to friends. I will only keep ones that I am particularly proud of or are very different.

Yes, the tone is pretty surprisingly awesome. The tele is super duper loud acoustically and howling raunchy warm plugged in with the vintage PAF epiphone humbuckers. The strat is set on super low action. Glides through your fingers and has a clean, vibrant twang to it. With the Wilkinson P90s and the middle Tone Monster single coil, it is noiseless and an array of tonal qualities can be produced with the 5 way switch. Both sustains incredibly. Very pleased with a Pine, Poplar, Walnut combination. Amazing.
Thanks, I often just stare at them in amazement that these bodies are made of Pine. You cannot even tell that they are cheap wood. Goes to show, you do not need to spend a fortune making a solidly designed guitar. I am currently recording a few songs with both guitars. Will post a music video soon.
@russ Thanks, yes the black hardware was a calculated and well thought out part of the builds. These guitars are definitely your style. Not a big Fender fan but I am starting to really appreciate the genius of Leo Fender.
These guitars are definitely your style
They are @clinton.....and these are a great example. I just love the shape and style of Fender guitars. They fit the body perfectly. Extremely well thought out by Mr Fender.
