@tv101 It’s looking good T, messy job that surface routing isn’t it? It works though. 👍It’s got a lovely grain that plank, it will come up a treat with some finish on it.

Got the neck pocket cut and the main bits laid out to check positioning

If all goes to plan I'll not use those pickup rings.  Nor any pickup rings.

But that plan means I've got to slice this piece of offcut into 4 pieces, and then thickness each piece to the same thickness.

@tv101 Yeah I’ve had that idea too. I looked into several ways of doing it, bought some stuff to do it but still haven’t got around to doing it yet. 😂

Just like this ...

And now getting glued together

After taking the photo, I realised that the wedges weren't positioned correctly, so that's now sorted.  The wood now butts up against a piece of the aluminium box section bars, and the wedges sit between the two bars.

@tv1. Quick question, perhaps you may know. A few times I worked with swamp ash. Is it just me or is ash difficult to completely flatten really smooth? I seem to not know why that is. To open of a grain species?

To open of a grain species?

Exactly that, I think, @clinton.

There's a lot more grain to fill compared to (eg) maple.

Which is actually why I wanted Ash for this build - I want a lot of open grain to take the filler, which will be a contrast colour to the finish.

At least, that's the plan!

I’ve taken a week off work so I might get this guitar halfway built
