This Strat was sent to me recently from America for a paint job and it needed some repairs done before I started with paint. Those repairs are done now and the whole guitar body is now in primer and almost completely flattened to P320 grade, just the inner part of the horns to finish off.
So whilst I’m sitting here recovering from my vaccination jab a couple of days ago (I’m fine now), I’m deciding on which silver flake to use as the effect base before the bright pink candy paint is applied over it. I have several in my stock but I’m just pondering. The bigger the flake, the the more wild the effect, the colour is irrelevant. What do you think? The 2nd from left is the one is used on the Sun King Strat and the mix of the Hollywood large and small rainbow flakes I used on this pink spray out test shape.

I won’t vote in this poll so as not to potentially swing it one way or the other.
This guitar body is being painted as part of a project for a new guitar being built for a father and daughter in America. The daughter (11 years old) has a rare disease and now has terminal cancer also. Her dad plays guitar and sings songs to her but only has an old beat up Strat so her doctor (my friend) another friend in Scotland and myself are making them a new one. Her favourite colour is pink so hence the reason for this bright colour. She may not live to see her 20th birthday so we want her to enjoy what time she has left with her dad, singing songs on her favourite coloured guitar.
Please vote to help me make the best decision. I will be asking my friends too.
This build will be a surprise for them too so don’t tell anyone. 😉

We decided on the very large flake in the end, it looks good. It never looks brilliant at this first stage but it will once I get a shine on it. Right now it’s quite like sand paper, P80 grade i recon. 🤣
So, from the white primer to the black base coat to the metal flake in clear base. I’ll put the first load of clear coat on it later.

I just saw this @boo but it looks like you made a decision on the flake rather quickly. So I voted very large just for fun. Go big or go home, right?
What a terrible story about that poor girl, I hate it! This life can be so great, rich and fulfilling yet so cruel, dark and unfair.
It’s a great thing that you and your friends are doing, I’m happy about that.
Which vaccine did you get?

How many other threads have you got here?
I was watching your other (other) thread for updates on this Strat. And then I found it here, on another other thread.
Anyways, I keep checking my Instagram, but I see nothing ....

Thanks @russ I’ve been mega busy but unfortunately not with guitars.
Yeah, it certainly is very pink and my customer already loves it. He will in turn build the guitar up and pass it on to the intended new owner. I hope she likes it. ✨✨💖💖

Is every tool in your garage now tinted pink?
@jonhodgson No, I used surprisingly little pink candy paint, I only gave it two coats of the pink stuff.
