OK, I've just finished making yet another custom Tele type, so here is my latest creation.
Its for an old friend of mine that I used to be in a band with many moons ago. He is a left handed player so making a lefty always melts my brain. Anyway, I've made quite a few lefty Teles now so I've got used to it.
There was some artistic licence for me with this one so I did some things a little different.
Spec:
Body - Poplar (finished in Surf Geen basecoat and high gloss 2K clear)
Neck - Cherry (finished in oils, my secret blend that feels so buttery to the touch)
Fretboard - Rosewood (nourished with fretboard wax from Monty's)
Gotoh hardtail toploader bridge in chrome
Gotoh locking tuners in chrome
4 chrome neck ferrules with matching machine screws, going into threaded inserts in the neck
2 Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell humbucker pickups in chrome
1 Volume Bare Knuckle potentiometer with chrome knob
Switchcraft 3 way pickup selector switch with white knob
Switchcraft jack socket with chrome plate
Schaller S-Locks strap locks for the strap
Custom made bone nut (43mm wide)
Stainless steel frets
Every time I complete a Tele, I want to move onto making something completely different but there is always another one that comes along.
Off the back of this build, I've got another T type to make, another friend likes this one so much, he wants the same thing in right handed but with just one humbucker pickup at the bridge and painted in Nene Blue (not sure where i can get that exact colour). He wants it in Nitro paint as well so it naturally degrades over time. I seem to find that nitro paint is only available in quite a limited colour pallet.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking at this Surf Green custom Tele type.
