@darrenking That’s rather neat, is it one of yours?

@darrenking You’re correct that there is no standard for which is the right angle fret. Strandberg seem to make it the zero fret, but they don’t have a big difference in scales (just 1/2 inch between bass and treble).Intuitively the… Read more»

@darrenking.
Hi Darren, I’ve just been watching your Bagpress laminations videos on Mark’s courses. It is so hypnotic and therapeutic to watch. I’m now chilled for the rest of the day. Your Acoustic guitars are so beautiful.
Cheers,
Russ

so I am glad I added those extra 3mm of clearance. 😉 @darrenking The jig looks awesome and I want one but it will have to wait a bit… any idea what it’ll cost to send one my way? 😬

Thanks guys, I think unless I decide to make the body a lot thinner I’ll leave the custom bit for now. From memory I think the blank I’ve ordered is about 45mm so unlikely to take it down this time.@darrenking… Read more»

Any general-purpose router cutter will do – I’d use at least 1/2″ or it will take ages to cover the entire surface area 5/8″ or slightly bigger would be even better as @DarrenKing points out. A cutter specific for surfacing… Read more»

@darrenking I’ve never known a router be sold without a guide bush so don’t see it being an issue to say to use one. I’ve seen some deeper than others but don’t think that’s an issue for what you’re suggesting.

@darrenking.
If it keeps the cost down Darren, I’m sure we can all cope with putting it at an angle. Your work on this is very much appreciated.

Ask Darren to design one, it’ll be CNCd out of 18mm plywood, but really ingenious.
@jonhodgson What @darrenking can’t do with a bit of 18mm ply isn’t worth talking about.

@darrenking In fact my home made one (badly home made one) is a bit chewed up because I kept hitting the slidey bit with the router bit. Using a simple bush to solve the problem is a simple and eloquent… Read more»
