@frocesterbill: Iron Gear pickups are an inexpensive but excellent choice.. Pig Iron single coils or vintage 6TS.. perhaps combined with a Dirty Torque in the bridge. It all depends a bit on the styles you want to cover of course.

Thanks Darren & Bill. I think I will look to pay for some good quality bits. It probably works out cheaper in the long run if I’m not damaging the wood.
