The bit that slides up and down is some kind of plastic - I trimmed some of it so that it could slide up a bit more - I’ll take some pics later.

I used cheap router bits on my Bandsman build and ended up with a less than tight neck pocket - only needed a very thin veneer - down to a crappy bear...

Try cutting a thin bit on your bandsaw, double side tape it onto a lump of wood and use a block to sand..........
