Pickups have arrived already!

I just have the feeling I am forgetting something 🤔

ah yeah! I have to glue my body blanks first!

@koendb

It’s fun getting new parts and gear! Nothing wrong with gathering parts before the glue up. Nope, not at all...

Practice on scrap...

It is good to have hardware early - avoids that problem where things don’t fit........

Measure once........
Measure again.........

Someone mentioned Telecaster at the top of this thread

I've spent decades training woodworm

What's your preferred method of making F hole?

@eddie6string

I’ve never done one but if I had to I’d use a routing template, boom... done!

*not* making an f-hole

😀

Alongside my campaign for the abolition of the use of cheap black plastic on guitars, I'm thinking about starting another campaign for banning the use of irrelevant thirteenth century design features on modern-day musical instruments ...

(Just for clarity, I'm not a huge fan of the f-hole design on guitars).

@mattbeels

Smallest bearing cutter is too large & I'm not comfortable with letting the shaft of the cutter run on template edge.

Could you do it with a Dremel @eddie6string? 🤔

I'm waiting for someone to make minature bearing cutter for dremel as the issue is the same.

Multiple sessions applying pressure with rotating shaft ain't gonna do much good.

I'm very proud of my F holes, they were a necessity to get rid of rusty nail holes.  They were cut out with a coping saw, then chiselled and sanded to the final shape.

@eddie6string

Hmm, ask @clinton. That’s how he does it. These days they make some super slim pattern bits, I’m pretty sure Amana make some...

@robin And so you should be Robin, I think they look great. I think F holes, although a very old design, can be used in modern builds without making them look outdated. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@mattbeels and @eddie6string Yeah that is the best thing, ask @clinton. He always seems to find an inventive way of doing things or just does them by hand. Let’s see what he says.
