Serious skills that you could make some useful cash from when you retire/move.

@tv101 Yeah I will be taking on some new projects for sure. I’m looking forward to starting a new Scottish business. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🍭🍬I added a few more scales and more tangerine into the shading. I also pulled one of the pin stripes off and gave it a little gold. 🍬🍭✨✨

@russ and @petervirdee Thank you. Although I have wiped it all off now, I’m going with a different design now.

I wiped all the candy off this guitar and started with a clean slate again. I played around with some masking techniques, trying different shapes and patterns. I then had a flash of inspiration and chose a colour scheme and planned my hardware around it too. It was all going well.

I wanted a swirly pattern so I got masking.

I wanted that ‘60s swirly pattern and I was going to do it with purple and gold candy, over the metal flake. I would then choose mirrored gold scratch plate and back cover plate. Also I decided on all gold hardware to match, it was starting to come together.

I wasn’t quite happy with the masking on the top, not swirly enough, so I adjusted it a bit. I then got some purple on there. Coincidentally, the name of this candy purple is, Purple Haze. 💜

All was going well, so it was time to unmask.

I offered up the scratch plate and thought it looked ok. 👍

I realised that because I was spraying gold over the whole lot, including the purple. Guess what happened? Yep, the purple turned more and more red as I sprayed more coats of gold on. The gold is effectively yellow, so yellow and purple make a dark red, more like red wine. Cheers 🍾🍷🍷Oops! Not what I wanted.

I tried to wipe off some of the gold from the purple but I just rubbed all the way through to the silver flake (sealed with clear coat, obviously).

So, it wasn’t going to work. 😔 I soaked shop towels in thinner (reducer) and wiped all the candy off (purple and gold), right back to the blank canvas of the flake again.

All that work and back to square one. Sure I was downtrodden a bit but what had I lost? Some time and a bit of paint. I stepped away from it and made Haggis, neeps and tattles for my tea, with a wee dram afterwards. 🥃

Not to worry, I live to fight another day. I’ll regroup and come back to it. I ordered all the gold hardware and had it delivered last week. I will not be beaten and will return stronger in my determination to get it done the way I want it be. ✨💜✨💛✨🎸

@tv101 I do have fun, I know.

Thanks, I am a perfectionist though and if something just isn’t right, I’ll do it again.

Like you say, it’s all fun. 👍
