Is the purple around the outside just a trick of the light?
@russ Yep, the colour flips depending on the angle at which you view it. When I move the guitar around, the colours are constantly shifting from green to purple.

As this colour is a base coat, it dries with a matt/satin sheen, it will come alive once I put the shiny reflective clear coat on. I’m thinking of putting a couple of Matt black racing stripes down the middle to give it some contrast.

And to make it play faster of course, because we all know racing stripes make things faster.

I got this bass out in the sun today, it’s turned out quite nice. The effect of this paint is quite subtle in comparison to the metal flake and candy but just as nice. I still thing it needs breaking up with something, some matt black stripes maybe.

I really like racing stripes and I‘m wondering how that would look.
@mattbeels I think because it is a bass, there is a lot of space, especially as I’m not putting the scratch plate back on. All that space needs breaking up so a couple of racing stripes will do the trick. I’m thinking of either matt black or maybe use the same colour but just change the texture by using matt clear for the stripes. It’s more subtle to use matt clear over the existing colour but it will change the contrast with texture. If I use matt black, it will be contrasted with both colour and texture. Another option is to put the black racing stripes on and then clear coat the whole guitar again with some flow coats of the shiny stuff, leaving colour as the only contrast. 🤨🧐🤔
I’ll have a ponder about it over the next few days.
What do you lot think?
