When it comes to Reggae bass my favourite bass player is Aston 'Family man' Barrett. And although it is often stated that his nickname 'Family man' is because he has 52 children that seems to be not correct. "Ah, it's only 23 daughters and 18 sons," he replies. "It's 41."

Here's a couple of his iconic bass lines:

My favourite who played a bass is John Paul Jones......master of many instruments.
