I've just been and picked up some mahogany this evening, 150mm square x 960mm long. I think I'll try to make a thru neck from one of these, once I've figured out how I'm going to cut it.

@Robin. Good old hand saw and make a router sled to plane and flatten. I do at all the time.

I like the idea of hand sawing, but I don't think my lung capacity is up to the job anymore, I will be making a router sled though.  This morning I visited the factory I used to work in, they have a bandsaw that will cut that height, I just need to persuade them to put a blade on that has teeth.
