I am, of course, using the “Bagpress Fret Slotting Jig” from @darrenking to slot my fretboard blank (I still don’t know what wood this is). This jig really is super simple and easy to use, consistent, reliable and inexpensive in cost. It’s worth every penny to the serious guitar builder, whether professional or amateur. Go buy one. 👍 

Truss rod in and fillet glued in. I’ll come back to this tomorrow.

Re fretboard species: Goncalo Alves would be my guess. Difficult to be 100% without having it front of me. Where did you get it from?

Out of the clamps and planed off the excess truss rod fillet. 

Fretboard glued on and in clamps. 

Time to make the panga panga neck. Here we go again. 

Can you spot the one difference, apart from the type of wood? 

Panga panga all routed up. It’s a pretty wood but very splintery, I had to be careful when routing, splinters flying everywhere.

@russ Well, it could be but it’s going on a righty as a reverse headstock. It’s going on the purple and gold swirly body as my tribute to Jimi. I know Jimi was a lefty but he had guitars with reverse headstocks. 

@boo  You're getting well with that, its good to see that you're workbench is almost as tidy as mine.

Time to drill the panga and route the headstock to depth. 

They are both looking good together. 

Time to make a fretboard for the panga neck. I’m going to use this lovely piece of pale moon ebony, again using the Bagpress Fret Slotting Jig. 

I used an offcut from the fretboard to make a fillet to cover the truss rod. Waste not, want not. 

Time to unclamp and plane this truss rod fillet down so I can glue this amazing fretboard on. This neck is going to look stunning. 

Planed the fillet and a bit of scraping too. It’s very satisfying doing this bit. 

Time to get the fretboard on. I always lightly clamp it in place first and make sure everything lines up and is in the right place.
Then put my caul on to see where the holes need drilling for the location pins. Drill the holes, hammer in the pins, place it back on the neck, line everything up again and tap the pins into the neck. Double check everything still lines up before pulling the board off again before gluing it on. 

All glued, pinned and clamped. I’ll come back to this tomorrow.
