Fascinating! So, what implications does this have for neck width, heel width and neck joint?
I’ve been trying to work out the best way of building a 3D model that would allow for flexibility in how your (Bailey) neck might fit. -

jamesbisset replied to the topic "Sliding pickup guitar (Dan Armstrong London)" – 4 years, 7 months ago
A few years ago there was a bundle of old Dan Armstrong “stock” available. A mix of part built bodies, necks, bits of hardware, etc. I did consider it, but, IIRC, they were after ~£10k, and the realist in me… Read more»

That’s helpful. Thanks Jonathan. Potentially appealing given I’m looking for an ‘easy’ way to get a traditional style finish.

Looks kinda like a Bandsman doesn’t it! I bought my Dan Armstrong (London) in the seventies from a guitar maker who had clearance stock when Dan Armstrong stopped trading. The first thing I did was to slacken off the… Read more»

It’s a design choice!
Although Steve Robinson (Manchester Guitar Tech) described this as 70s Habitat. Black nitro straight onto raw Ash.

Thanks folks, I did wonder whether the groinal neck-shaping technique had something to do with it.
Also gives me a chance to make sure the mitred edging is square this time too! -

Woah! just caught up today because I’ve been finishing my workbench and what should I spy, but a 45° cut on the corner of the BaileyBench.
Nobody told me! I’ve just got a 90° corner!

I’m planning a pre-slotted BaileyBoard too and I’ve already bought some Jescar EVO Gold from ToneTech. The tang in this case is 0.020″ with teeth (barbs?) taking it out to 0.036″. https://www.jescarguitar.com/shop/jescar-fret-wire-47104/ In a modern, consistent, sensible measuring system, this… Read more»

What was a Gibson master craftsman doing at Tonetech’s shop???
It’s complicated. Suffice to say, in the end I removed to the south west of Scotland. Least said, soonest mended.
