I watched this last night and am well impressed Darren. My order will be in soon. Could you clarify about whether it could be used on bolt on necks ie is the height of cut sufficient. I seem to recall Mark saying something about it not being wide enough.... how wide is it?

Cheers

Hi James,

Thank you for your comments, much appreciated. The width of the jig is 75mm but it hasn't been designed for slotting one piece neck/fretboards. However, there might be a mod which would allow this. How thick is the material be that you would be cutting the fret slots in to?

Cheers

Darren

Thanks Darren it's 25mm thick but 110mm wide so it won't fit I'm afraid.

I'll have to do that by hand!

Hi Darren,

Am i right in thinking that the slotting guide that has the fretboard taped to it, can be used inverted if some wear develops over time causing chatter/movement as pin locates?

Hi Eddie,

As there is actually very little that would cause wear on the template I don’t think that this will be an issue. Each registration hole only gets used once per fretboard and I have taken the template off and on again 50 times (as a test) without it getting significantly loser. That’s 50 fretboards of one scale length and still going strong. If you are making that many guitars I think you are more likely to want a new fret saw before the template wears out.

Cheers

Darren
