Try white.

To my eyes, the trouble with purple/pink is that it stays that colour on the pickup covers, whereas it changes between blue and purple on the body.  So, sometimes pickup/body matches, and sometimes it doesn't.

A constant contrast (whether the body looks blue or purple) to white pickup covers would - IMHO - work better.  And you've always got the match with the racing stripes.

I really need to make a body for you to work your spraying magic on.  One day ...

@tv101 Thanks for that T, appreciated. Yeah it’s becoming more apparent that they should be white. I was always going to do them white because I knew it would work but I had a sudden rush of blood to the head and went mad with flake. ✨🤯✨ I was thinking perhaps black too but it looks too harsh against everything else, it looks out of place, like these purple ones. Maybe I’ll make a bass one day and paint it purple sparkle. 

It’s always good to get others’ reactions too. 

Yeah, whenever you are ready for a paint job, let me know. I can buff it on @darrenking ‘s  machine (I might paint that too 🤣✨). I should pass that on soon, after this current batch of paint jobs. I think @deej should have it nex, he is nearest to me geographically.

@russ and @koendb Yeah, thanks for the confirmation boys, it’s definite now. I’ll put white ones in, colour coded white pearl to match the racing stripes, obviously.

Yeah alright, you lot were correct, the white pickup covers do look the business. It’s starting to look really nice now this jazz bass. I’m upgrading the bridge to a Wilkinson and I may even upgrade the pickups themselves. Now I’ve started, I can’t stop. I’ll be installing better tuners before I know it.

I spent a little time on this bass today. I got the Mirka out and then the buffer. It's come up a treat @darrenking 😁👍

I'm now doing some work on the neck, I'm rolling the fretboard edges over to make it a bit more comfortable to play. I'm using a razor blade to scrape off the majority and then going over that with some p1200g paper. I'll clean and restore the fretboard, as well as polish the frets, ready for new strings.

Well @boo that came out looking great! The white pu covers definitely fit, too bad J bass knobs aren’t available in white but I know a guy who can paint them… 😉😂

Just for you @russ I’ve just put the strings on, added the bells and whistles, and I’ve just had a quick jam. It needs a setup now but it’s a great bass guitar now.
