@koendb I think that moving the peg hole may cause an alignment problem with the nut as the string won’t be pulling in a straight line, it will be rubbing on the side on the nut slot which isn’t good… Read more»

@koendb but it would have looked a bit nicer if that one came in a bit more from the center. You could plug the hole and drill again where you wnt it. If you don’t move it too far, the… Read more»

@tv1, @russ, @mattbeels, @Boo, @Koendb, @rocknroller912, (@russ),@tv1, @russ, @mattbeels, @Boo, @Koendb TY, I’ve modified the top upper bout to not have the cut-away horn, instead, it’s going to have a continuous radii to the neck – similar to a Gibson Les Paul junior. I’ve ordered several parts, still waiting on… Read more»

Black pickups might not give enough contrast ( perhaps depending on the bridge color? )So why not make it more stealthy instead? I like the idea @koendb I think I’ll just put the original chrome bridge back on and paint… Read more»

Thanks @koendb I’m looking forward to building it back up again. I’m toying with the idea of painting the pickup covers white pearl to match the racing stripes. 🤔

You have made some good tools there. I’ve never been keen on router guides. -
Tej replied to the topic "My basic router sledge" – 4 years ago
@koendb nice job. As for a router planer jig there are a lot of examples of both diy ones and shop bought ones in the internet. Design is pretty much standard across them all. Someone did post one they made… Read more»

@koendb But your wings should already be roughly shaped. So this is one of the parts I was really unsure with, I’d assumed you wouldn’t cut them to shape as I’d expect you want/need consistant clamping pressure across the wood… Read more»

@koendb so what’s the plan for getting the build done, I’m not familiar with the approach for neck though, at what point do you join the wings on to the neck? My next build is, in my head, to be… Read more»

@koendb v4 for me 😬 If you still had an asymmetrical end but took the curve from the lower wing through the neck end into the top wing I think that might look best, to me at least. So it… Read more»

@koendb You could always use a bridge with a separate tailpiece to occupy some of the bump?

Tej replied to the topic "Designing my own neck tru guitar" – 4 years ago
@koendb I think what doesn’t sit right is the curve into the flat end of the neck then the angled take off on the top wing, it doesn’t look intentional. Hard to explain where I’m coming from here. Had to… Read more»

@koendb like it! A couple of points, personally I’d make the angle the top wing comes off the bridge end of the through neck more shallow, it looks a bit harsh to me which doesn’t quite work when the other… Read more»
