@rockpile99 I laminated poplar for a neck from a futon couch/bed frame. Pretty solid. Watch out for the knots in pine. They tend to fall out when tou hit it with the rasp.

@rockpile99 Thanks for the additional tips!  I like the sawdust in the center of the block tip, as well as marking the edges of the board with a pencil to see when you’ve accomplished the correct thickness.
