How to get your hands on LOCKDOWN LUCY!!!! 😲

mark   lockdown lucy

Finally … someone is going to be getting to play our Lockdown Lucy - the Bandsman Special Made Live during the first lockdown in 2020

Lots of you have asked about Lucy, and we are blown away by your support -  and the offers of hard cash !! 😍

It has taken this long, as we wanted to thank premium members for keeping us going, AND give as many as possible a chance to get the guitar.

In March our monthly premium fee for new members will go up to £22 and the shop discount will also be reduced (it has always been advertised at 5% but the shop gives members 10%!!) -  originally site changes were planned for Jan but have been delayed.

We want this to be as fair as possible, and keep everyone happy  - including those of you who want to contribute more

SO… here are the rules :

  • LUCY will be drawn to one of our PREMIUM members on the last livestream of this month (SAT 27th Feb) - this is a membership (customer) draw not a raffle
  • ALL paying premium members (those not 'on hold') will receive ONE FREE ENTRY automatically – THANK YOU!
  • ANNUAL subscribers will receive an extra FOUR  FREE ENTRIES
  • New Gift subscriptions will receive  : 3 months  ONE ENTRY, 6 months TWO ENTRIES (if you are gifting to yourself, we can add the membership manually)
  • HERO POINTS CAN BE USED TO UPGRADE to PREMIUM
  • Extend your subscription for more chances to win! (monthly, annual DD or Gift in shop)

DELIVERY: Lucy can either be collected in person or delivered – collection will only be possible once our local lockdown has been relaxed…but if it has we’ll get you a cuppa and wee workshop tour. Delivery will be by courier within the UK and by mid March - outside UK we will need to discuss how we best do this and look at sharing the costs… or we wait until you can collect!

Lucy will come with a Hiscox STD case (but that can be upgraded)

If you decide to give LUCY to someone else – the same delivery rules apply

ANY clarification or questions...please email: carol@baileyguitars.co.uk 🙂

Massive Thanks to everyone who has supported us and watched the Livestreams over the past year especially All our Premium Members! Good Luck - wish you could all win it!!!

Measure twice, cut once...

@markbailey

Lockdown Lucy will be a big miss I'm so used to seeing it in the background on every live stream. Please take a photo and put it where we can all see it. I was trying to think of a few words to make a song but every tune just sounded like an Eric Clapton song.

@markbailey and Carol

Thank you for all these livestreams and the online courses and the chance to win lockdown lucy. Had it not be for lockdown, I would never have found you and I wouldn't be building guitars. It's kept me busy when I couldn't do anything else, not just due to lockdown, but while I've been waiting for and recovering from the two times I've had surgery since the first lockdown. As a premium member, I may be helping you, but both of you and all the forum community have certainly helped me too.

Robin

Please re-enter/allocate any tickets allocated to me to be among others who enter.

Whilst it would be a privilege to play a Bailey guitar, I'm overrun with guitars and my wife likes the little bit of wall she can see.

Someone is going to have a treasure for sure!!

Wishing all the best with knurled knobs on to you all.

Warmness

Thanks Mark and Carol. What a great bunch of super cool guitar enthusiasts. 😎 I’m here because of your livestreams during the lockdown as well. Life is good as I am getting ready to start my first guitar very soon.  All the best of luck to everyone in the contest and stay safe.  Cheers!

Woo-hoo!

@markbailey & Carol,

What an enormously generous thing to do! I of course hope that I will win but as I never win anything at least I won’t feel down if I don’t. 😂

Best of luck to everyone and thanks so much for the premium courses, the entertaining, personal livestreams and your cheery faces through all of this!

Cheers!

Matt

Hi Mark and Carol,

This last year has been just awful for so many people but, certainly for me, having your livestreams to look forward to and the clubhouse/classroom feel of the livechat, including all the badly behaved members, has really helped to reduce the feelings of despondency and isolation that might otherwise have been even more overwhelming. I really hope that it has achieved a similarly therapeutic effect for the both of you and I can’t express enough my admiration for your efforts and determination in the face of some really serious challenges. Thank you.

With regard to LDL I didn’t even know/remember that you had an annual subscription option but the lure of four extra draw tickets has forced me to upgrade immediately!

Hope to see you soon to share some beer and lentils and thank you once again.

Darren

I have to agree with Darren on this - the live streams gave/still gives me something to look forward to amidst the gloom.......

The GM Community has also been totally brilliant!

Thanks to everyone who contributes to the live streams, the members on here and of course Carol and Mark for something so positive!!!!

Measure once........ Measure again......... Sod it - make tea!

So, just to confirm, "Lockdown Lucy", aka LDL, that's the walnut guitar, right?

It was a choice of Alder or Mahogany. Majority vote was Mahogany and I remember it rang a really nice tap tone compared to the Alder that did not ring so much.

@tv1 I have boards of century old Koa that I use for my necks. Each time, I have to square and quarter saw them. Luckily next door the furniture shop let me use their bench joiner for a small fee. One day I am going to just do them all. Still have enough for 2 bodies and 2 necks I think. Sure is beautiful wood, or should I wait 2 more centuries?

So it's 300 year oldMahogany

We've been in lockdown a long time now, must be nearly 400 years old by now.

@clinton

Its best to cut all the wood you want to use to near finished sizes and let it air dry to ensure the moisture content is even both sides. Cutting just before you use means that an outside face will be drier than an inside face and could lead to twisting. I've made this mistake.

@eddiesixstring

I had a similar issue with "too many guitars really", but I'm a greedy bastard, so will put that reservation to one side if I'm the lucky one.

Actually (and slightly more seriously) ...

If I win, my thinking is that I'll send the guitar out on tour.  Anyone* who wants to borrow it for a few months can do so.  That way, lots of people should get a chance to try it out, play it, see how it's put together (etc), and generally enjoy having it around.  When they're done, then it goes on to the next person to similarly enjoy it.

Seems like that would be consistent with the community watching it get put together, then the community gets to actually enjoy it in their hands.

*Anyone - obvs, there might be some difficulties/costs sending it on a worldwide tour, and I'd probably prefer to keep it within the known community so that it doesn't get "lost" somewhere.  Might also create an opportunity for some of us to actually meet, face-to-face for handovers, etc.
