While waiting for better weather conditions to start painting ..

IMG 20210308 085031309

Fixed my cordless dremel 800. The speed control was not functioning anymore and spinning at maximum speed all the time.
All what was requiredย  was swapping a Mosfet Transistor. I am so happy I am getting better and better at fixing stuff myself.

Anyway I immediatly put it to good use and after leveling and recrowning etc.. I still could not get my frets to shine.
But I now tried using my dremel a buffing wheel and some Mezerna Medium cut compound and now my frets are shiny.
Before and After in one picture ๐Ÿ™‚
Meanwhile I'm still not sure If I am doing this fret work correctly 🤨ย

Thatโ€™s awesome! Figuring out the problem is usually half the battle, glad you got it fixed.

@koendb

Top marks for changing a Mosfetย

Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.

And there it is! All blue and matte! Not the best build I've seen around here at all, but I still am proud of this ๐Ÿ™‚
I left it to cure for 2 weeks after finishing with daphne blue nitro, gave it a bit of a wet n dry sanding.
Still need to do a final action and intonation, but other than that, my Ikea top is now singing like a bird of paradise.

Like the colour scheme on that.

Just goes to prove that you can make a guitar out of all sorts of raw materials.

I'm going to check now to see if I've got any old Brazilian Mahogany Ikea counter top lying around in the kitchen ...

@koendb Yeah, I would be proud of it too, it looks great. A nice simple paint job with a matt finish, very effective. The whole guitar looks great, it looks nicely balanced and after that setup, I bet it plays well too.ย
Good work my friend. 🙂👍🎸

What are you building next?ย

I winced when I first saw the headstock cut in half then realised it was on purpose, it really does look awesome.

Is that the HT20 Blackstar? I have that same amp, jam in a tube screamer and it's all good.

That looks like a proper template!

Are you making those, or buying them?

@cheesewhisk No, it is a HT Club 40, but indeed same here. Tubescreamer in front and rock on! ( although it sounds really good on its own too )

@tv101 I bought this one, I am still trying to make my own good quality templates, but I am not yet able to make em accuratly enough for my liking, so , until I am able to create nice square and perfectly straight lines in my templates, I ll buy em. But I am putting the practice in!

I have a HT studio 20 head...great amp. Swapped the valves for old/but new Mullards ...awesome..

Bit of trivia. I work in Blackburn and mallards where originally made there back in the day. Those valves (tubes for our American friends) where just the dogs...

@koendb Yeah I have to admit, I like that colour of blue too. Iโ€™m in a vibrant colour mode at the moment but at some point I will break from it and be more subtle. Youโ€™ve done it well. 👍🎸
