@markbailey @boo Sounds like a good idea, so just for further encouragement, sign me up for the nut making course too.

RE: Guitar Build #3

@bpower I'm sure that you were warned that this becomes addictive, one thing I have learnt though is ignore the "honey do list" at your peril.

RE: Wolf's Descent into Madness

@wolframmalukker Will try to do a little shaping this weekend, maybe. Need to cut the truss rod slot first, I guess. Thats looking good. Mark always emphasises to do the trussrod slot before shapin...

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

Took the trussrod cover off the banjo and found solid headstock under it, just a pretend trussrod cover. So, I removed the resonater and seen how the neck is attached. I put a little veneer in the nec...

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

@rocknroller912 I definitely won't be adjusting the neck angle then, that's away beyond my skill level. I'll not be attempting to remove the fretboard either. I think my first step is to adjust the t...

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

@rocknroller912 You've preempted the questions I was going to ask you and I'd already taken this photo before I saw your post. The string height at the 12 fret is about 5mm and looks about 1.5mm reli...

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

@rocknroller912 Thanks for all that information, I don't see any name on the banjo at all. I'm waiting for screws to arrive to put the tuners back on, then I'll have another look at it.

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

@tv101 So, I googled "banjo repair kit" to check out what's currently recommended. Hope this helps. Exactly the kind advice I had expected from you, but still funny though.

RE: 12 String acoustic bridge repair

@tv101 @russ @rocknroller912 Thanks to you all for the advice guys, I did point out the risks in removing the label but Joe (he hasn't changed his name) wants me to try. It's three separate alum pl...

RE: Old chisel

@rocknroller912 @tej @bpower Just a thought on using the wrench method, rather than hammering it off, maybe use the wrench as a lever.

RE: Old chisel

@ tej @Rocknroller912 The other option would be to cut the handle off and make a new one. But why do want to remove the handles if they're on solid anyway.

RE: Old chisel

@tej If you hold the blade in vice you should be able to chap the handle off. Obviously be careful of the sharp end.
