Why does Mark sell these?

Just used my Bagpress fret slotting jig for the first time and it's amazing! Today has been a good day; I managed to conquer the witchcraft that is using hand planes to get a square and flat* fretboar...

It would be interest on peoples thought on what makes the best tone. Agree with what TV said. When plugged in it comes down to your fingers, pickups, and amp. Got an ex band mate who used both solid ...

RE: Bridge/trem route repair

Never done exactly this but I cocked up fitting a Grainger ferule block in a similar way. I tried to make an exact fit for the hole i.e. oval shape at the ends and didn't succeed which meant lots of f...

RE: When the truss rod went in deeper than you remembered ...

I was bored so I decided to give @Tej's suggestion a try. It took well over an hour and the fretboard will need a little more glue & dust in places but I've ended up with a usable fretboard (altho...

RE: Not only do I suck at routing, I suck at gluing too.

Can't add much to what the guys above said re glue amount and clamping pressure but what works for me is leaving the fretboard slightly oversize when gluing (with centre lines on neck and board as a r...

RE: Hello!!

PS - if you're not following a template for your body shape and just carving/sanding after cutting roughly to shape, then you probably don't really need the edge trimming cutter.

RE: Hello!!

It confused me too to begin with 😀 You don't have to use both bearings at once - use whichever best suits the job you're doing and where you have the template. Here's how I do it (the more ex...

RE: Surface routing jig

I did something far less scientific for thinning down my last neck blank; Masking tape & superglued two long pieces of equal height wood (and higher than my blank) to my workmate. Clamped the neck...

Answer to: Fret bending radius

Good work on making the jig 😀 I think common wisdom seems to be bend a couple lower than your radius. I've used 14" for on three 16" necks and 10" for a 12" neck and both seemed to work well.

I started out with (as it was capable of trimming bodies and necks in one pass but you could use a shorter cutter and do a few passes). For cavities I first bought and finished the tighter corners b...

RE: Hello!!

I bought Radian based on a recommendation but they're certainly well made, very sharp, and spare parts like bearings are available. I didn't buy a straight cutter (as a 6mm one came with the router) b...

My two favourites at the moment; Great combination of dirty blues and rock. It's a cover but I think it's better than the original.

RE: Build number 5 finished

@Boo Yes, it will be ferules (or maybe set neck if I do a neat enough job of the joint). Haven't used a plate on any guitar I've built yet. One of the joys of building my own has been no more 'palm st...
